Salvation is God's gift of grace through Jesus Christ.
Submission to God in our lives is our grateful response.
Study of God's Word brings truth, hope, and peace into our hearts.
Share God's love with others is required, for Jesus loved us unconditionally first.
Serve others in humility and love just as Jesus did in His earthly ministry.
This is the God as revealed in the Holy Bible. alone is Creator and Sovereign over all things on earth and in Heaven. He alone brings life.
God is One being but exists in three distinct beings. God the Father is the Sovereign and Creator of all things. Jesus Christ the Son became flesh to die on the cross in atonement for the sins of humankind. He now sits at the side of the Father. He will return in the last days, when mankind will be judged. The Holy Spirit in dwells believers, giving enlightenment to understand God's Word, discern God's will, and to live according to God's way.
Prayer is a way of communicating with God through the Spirit, seeking guidance, support, and strength. It can be a powerful tool for coping with stress, anxiety, and difficult situations.
Christ alone could live a life fulfilling God's way. He alone was the perfect sacrifice for all sins, redeeming with His blood all those who believe in Him. We say "yes" to receiving Christ as our Savior and Lord. Though we cannot live perfect lives ourselves, our genuine faith and following after Jesus makes it possible for God to gift us with forgiveness and righteousness.
To be in a relationship with God, we must get to know Him personally. God reveals all facets of Himself through His Word. The Bible guides us in the ways in which God would have us live and love one another. It works in our hearts, transforming us to become a reflection of Christ in this world.
Because the gospel of Christ is the path to eternal life, out of love and concern for the welfare of every man, we must share the message of Christ bravely and sincerely in this world. We do this by talking about Christ's impact on our own lives and teaching the Bible to others.
We also do this by selflessly reaching out to help others, without favoritism or discrimination. Jesus loves all people and served others humbly out of desire for their welfare during His ministry. We can do no less, whether our ministry is large or small, local or international. In our homes, relationships, work, and social lives, let us never tire of doing right.
"Little children, let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth. And by this we will know that we belong to the truth, and will assure our hearts in His presence." (1 John 3:18-19)
You may know the expression that faith is believing without seeing. That is a pat description for conviction of the heart that develops as we build a lifelong relationship with God. First: Know that your faith comes in stages, as you begin to trust your life, your decisions, and your future to the wisdom and provision of God. Faith will ebb and flow, strong some days and faint on others. That's okay. God is patient as long as we are sincerely seeking Him with all our heart. Second: It's okay not to understand the "why" of things that come our way in life, especially the bad. It is okay to ask God any question, including "Why?" Be prepared to open your heart to God's response, much as a child trusts the wisdom of a parent (perhaps grudgingly when things don't go our way). Faith is not a matter of personal convenience. God wants us to trust that He is working all things for our eventual good. Third: Remember that Jesus really does understand suffering. He experienced life as a human and all it can entail: Love, grief, friendship, betrayal, abuse, celebration, joy, anger, and death. His response was always to trust the Father and to yield His desires for His life to God's will and purpose. He is is our model for faith.
Having learned God's way, we should strive to reflect His love and the gift of salvation through Christ in all facets of our lives. We do this when we model the Holy Spirit, acting towards others with love, patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control, mercy, forgiveness, integrity, and justice. As Christ loves all people without favoritism or discrimination, we can do no less. We should humbly place the needs of others as a priority equal to our own needs, seeking their well-being however we can help (be it helping one person, a neighborhood, a community, or reaching out to other nations). There is no action so small that it cannot serve God's glory.
"God-given freedom" is a misunderstood term often misapplied to justify self-centered desires. The freedom given by Christ is freedom from bondage to sinful, selfish desires into the hope and joy in Christ's salvation. It is the freedom to become part of Christ's eternal kingdom. It is the freedom to carry the Spirit in our hearts. It is the freedom to know and serve the glory of the one true God, to be loved by Him and to share His love with others that they can find the same hope and salvation. It is not the freedom to do as we please without consequence.
It is the freedom to have confidence of our eternal place with the Lord, a release from our bondage to sin and its inevitable path to judgment and eternal separation from God. We can know that we are children of the one God, who will bless us with His eternal love. Does this mean we receive everything we ask? Does this mean God has abandoned us (or worse, that He doesn't exist) if He doesn't conduct the world as we think He should? Certainly not! Does a parent cease to love a child by saying "no" to them or lets the child do as he pleased without discipline? Of course not! The patent is guiding the child to do what is best so the child might grow, thrive, and have a good life. So it is with our Father, God, who knows what is beneficial for us. Freedom, finally, means knowing God's way may not match our will, but following freely will lead to something wonderful which we, still children, can't possibly imagine.
"I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything"—but not everything is constructive." ( 1 Corinthians 10:23)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The Holy catholic Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting. Amen.
